What do you think the best tall, dense screening plants are for Phoenix? Many ficus hedges were lost in last year's freeze and clients want to replace them with something else that grows fast. What do you like to use?  What do you think of Carolina Cherry?

You might look at Temple Bamboo - it is a very dense, thick, straight upright, tall as you want (within reason) growing type.  It's foliage is dense from the ground, up.  The City of Tucson is recommending this as a replacement for oleanders to the public.  It stays green, is a very, slow runner and does not freeze.  Haven't used the Carolina Cherry.

Hop Bush (Dodonaea viscosa), green, not purple - grows fast and gets about 8 ft high.  Haven't heard of Carolina Cherry.
